1. What is EH!

EH! (pronounced “eh,” like the classic Canadian expression) is a community‑first social platform built in Canada that helps you discover what’s happening around you, connect with neighbours, and share local experiences—in real time.

2. How is EH! different from other social media apps?

  • Local by default. Your home feed surfaces posts and events within ~50 km of you, so everything you see is immediately relevant.

  • Community‑centred design. Neighbourhood pages, city badges, and volunteer shout‑outs make it easy to strengthen local connections.

  • No messaging (yet). Instead of private DMs, we emphasize open, public conversations that everyone nearby can join.

2.1 what does it compare to?

  • It is a mix between Instagram and the early days of Facebook when it was about connection and discovery and not Ads and Influencers.

  • That’s not to say we won’t have that but when we do, we want to do it thoughtfully in a way that doesn’t drown out local communities and businesses.

3. Who should use EH!

Anyone who wants to…

  • discover things to do nearby or find a place you want to visit

  • support local businesses and creators;

  • meet neighbours with shared interests; or

  • stay informed about community news and events.

4. Will there be a desktop version?

Yes, we will aim to launch on desktop fairly soon after we launch in app and we feel it is stable enough.

5. Does EH! have private messaging?

Not at the moment. We’re focused on building robust public conversation tools first. Private messaging is on our 2025 roadmap—sign up for beta access below to be the first to try it.

6. Is EH! free?

Yes. EH! is free to download and use. Optional paid features for business promotion and advanced analytics are in the works, but the core consumer experience will remain free.

7. will ads crowD my feeds?

No, we may have Ads in the future but with criteria around having a physical location if you want to post in local communities.

8. How do I sign up?

Download the app from the App Store or Google Play to be notified when it goes live in August.

9. How does EH! protect my privacy?

  • We do not sell personal data.

  • Data will be hosted in Canada

  • We comply with PIPEDA and GDPR requirements.

10. What about first nations?

We will be the first to admit that we don’t know enough. We will look to partner with experts across Canada to make sure we integrate nations properly.

11. How can I report inappropriate content?

Tap the ••• menu on any post and choose Report. Our community moderation team responds within 24 hours. You will also be able to block accounts you don’t want to see.

12. Will there be complicated algorithms and AI?

  • We will focus algorithms and use AI to block inappropriate content and also to protect local friends from irrelevant information.

  • If there becomes too much content in feeds, we may introduce ways to better find what you are looking for, based on user feedback.

13. Can I become a beta tester?

We are launching in August live however, we will make sure there is a clear way to provide feedback, report bugs, and suggest changes.

14. What features are coming next?

After launch, we will focus on:

  • Business tools that are accessible to small businesses

  • Adding languages like French

  • Accessibility improvements

  • AI algorithms only to weed out content that doesn’t align with our policies.

15. How will you give back to the community?

In terms of the app itself, by elevating content in communities that is not diluted by global content, we give communities visibility that would support small businesses and tourism.

We are also looking to set up a foundation that will allow us to give back to communities. The shape of that is still in progress and feedback is always welcome.
