TrailMix Technologies Inc., doing business as (“DBA”) EH! – Canada’s Social Media Network, is committed to developing and deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI) responsibly, ethically, and in a manner that benefits our community. While EH! does not currently use AI functionalities, we are actively exploring its future integration. Thisstatement sets out our principles and intentions for the ethical use of AI once implemented.
1. Purpose & Scope
This statement applies to all future AI-driven features within the EH! platform, including content recommendations, user connection suggestions, and other functionalities that may enhance the user experience.
2. Anticipated Use Cases
Planned AI functionalities may include:
Personalized content recommendations based on user preferences and interactions.
Improved community moderation tools to detect inappropriate content.
Curated suggestions to foster inclusive and meaningful local connections.
3. Transparency & User Control
Users will be informed when AI is involved in providing recommendations or other platform features.
Clear explanations will be provided about how AI works and the data it uses.
AI will never operate on sensitive personal data without explicit user consent.
4. Fairness & Bias Mitigation
AI systems will be designed and monitored to avoid discriminatory outcomes.
We will conduct periodic audits to assess fairness and ensure diverse, inclusive results.
5. Privacy & Data Protection
Any data used to train or operate AI models will be anonymized and securely stored.
We will comply with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including PIPEDA, BC PIPA, and Quebec Law 25, as well as relevant global standards.
6. Limitations & Risks
We recognize that AI systems may have limitations, including biases in training data or imperfect predictions. We will communicate these limitations openly and take proactive measures to address them.
7. Human Oversight & Accountability
All AI functionalities with potential significant impact will be subject to human oversight.
We will maintain internal governance processes for reviewing AI decisions.
8. User Feedback & Contestability
Users will have clear channels to provide feedback or raise concerns about AI-driven outputs.
Where applicable, users may contest AI-generated decisions that affect them.
9. Continuous Improvement
Our AI models will be regularly reviewed and updated to align with evolving ethical standards, technological advances, and user expectations.
Whenever applicable and feasible, we will follow the guidelines and recommended practices of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and other relevant Canadian and international standards.
